SMS Backup & Restore is a simple Android app that backs up and restores your phones text messages.

NOTE: 
The backup is created locally on the phone by default unless you configure it to upload to Email, Google Drive or Dropbox. You are responsible for backup files and the files are not sent to the developer in any case.

On Android 4.4+ devices, if you have performed the Restore and the messages dont appear in Hangouts then:
- Open Hangouts and Disable SMS from Settings.
- Exit the Hangouts app
- Open Hangouts and Enable SMS from Settings.

APP FEATURES:
- Backup SMS Messages in XML format.
- Backup created locally on the device with options to automatically upload to Email, Google Drive or DropBox using the Add-On app.
- Choose a scheduled time to automatically backup.

- Option to select which conversations to backup.

Samsung may replace Googles own data backup and restore with the launch of S Cloud alongside Tizen 3 0

We recently learned that Samsung would be building in advanced NFC functionality in Tizen, and now it looks like the Korean manufactured may use Tizen 3.0, which is due next year, to fully introduce its cloud service S Cloud as well. S Cloud doesn’t really do that much at this point, but according to official Korean sources, development on the service will complete by the end of this year to offer a large suite of functions.

The S Cloud server will apparently store a variety of content, including movies, photos and music, and also allow syncing of data and the aforementioned content between various devices. On Android, Google’s own data backup and restore service does half the work, so it looks like S Cloud will do the same on Tizen 3.0 devices, and maybe even replace Google’s cloud service on its Android devices at a later date.
